How to Remove the AI Label from an Instagram Post — 3 Steps

To remove AI info from an Instagram post image before uploading, start with the final exported file. These steps remove embedded metadata from a new copy; they cannot erase the label on a published post or guarantee how Instagram will label your next upload.

Upload

Choose your final JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF photo above. The file opens locally in your browser; it is not uploaded to our servers.

Clean

Select Remove metadata to strip embedded metadata. Color profiles are preserved by default. Review any conversion notice before downloading.

Post

Save the downloaded copy and select it for your next Instagram upload. Keep your original separately and include any required AI disclosure.

Why Instagram Shows "AI Info" on Your Post

Wondering “why does my Instagram post say made with AI” when you took the photo yourself? Meta has used both “Made with AI” and “AI info” wording. Its notices can reflect creation or editing signals, as well as a creator’s own disclosure.

An Instagram AI label does not necessarily mean every pixel was generated. The final export may carry a record of an AI-assisted edit. Read the label’s context and inspect the original file before deciding what happened.

Works for Feed Posts, Stories, Reels & Carousels

This workflow prepares still images for each format. To remove AI info from an Instagram Story image, clean the photo you will actually select in the Story composer. Cleaning a different copy, a Reel cover, or one carousel slide does not clean the rest of the content.

Feed posts and carousel photos

Finish cropping and editing first. Add every carousel image to the batch, clean them, and download each result or the ZIP. On a phone, extract the ZIP and save the individual images before selecting your slides in order.

Instagram Stories: save and select the cleaned photo

Open this page in your mobile browser and choose the final Story photo. Tap Remove metadata, then Download. On iPhone, find the download in Files and use Share → Save Image when available; on Android, find it in Downloads and open or save it to your gallery. Start a new Instagram Story and choose that downloaded copy. If it is missing from the picker, check photo permissions and where the browser saved it. This does not update a live Story or clean a video Story.

Reel covers and other still images

Clean a separately exported Reel cover before selecting it in Instagram, where custom cover uploads are available. The video, audio, and any label attached to the Reel remain outside this workflow. Editing or exporting the cover again may add metadata back.

Where the Label Comes From: C2PA, XMP & Camera EXIF

These records describe different parts of an image’s history. Finding a container is not the same as proving which signal Instagram used.

C2PA: Content Credentials

C2PA records can describe capture, generation, and editing history. Credentials also accompany real photography, so their presence alone does not establish AI generation. This tool removes embedded provenance blocks from supported files, not external records.

XMP: editing and software records

XMP can contain software names, editing actions, and descriptive fields. Cleaning removes the container, including ordinary editing information, rather than selectively deleting words that mention AI.

Camera EXIF: capture details

EXIF may hold camera settings, dates, orientation, and GPS. A camera model or location is not an AI verdict. These fields are removed for privacy; orientation is normalized when needed.

"Made with AI" on Real Photos — False Positives

A broad label can be confusing when the starting image was a camera photo. An edit record may be accurate even when the impression that the entire scene was generated is not.

AI denoising

Noise reduction enhances an existing photo. Depending on the editor and export settings, the file may retain software or processing records. Inspect the export rather than assuming every denoise tool triggers an Instagram label.

Generative fill

Adding or replacing part of a real photo with generative fill introduces generated content into that region. An associated edit record is not necessarily a false positive. Keep the original capture and describe substantive edits accurately.

What This Tool Can and Cannot Remove

The cleaner removes embedded C2PA, XMP, EXIF, IPTC, and PNG text records from supported image files. It creates a separate download and never connects to your Instagram account.

It cannot remove SynthID pixel watermarks, visible logos, burned-in text, platform records, or labels on existing posts and Stories. It does not process Reel videos. Removing metadata does not guarantee that Instagram will stop recognizing or labeling AI content.

Instagram AI Label Removal: What Creators Should Know

Treat Instagram AI info as context for viewers. Keep a private master with its original capture and editing history; clean a separate sharing copy when you want to reduce embedded personal information.

Review the downloaded image, use that copy for a future post, and disclose AI use when required. For an unexpected label on existing content, check Instagram’s available help or reporting options. This cleaner cannot submit a review or change the platform’s decision.

FAQ

How do I remove AI info from Instagram?

For a future photo upload, choose the final image here, clean its metadata, and post the downloaded copy. This changes the local file only. It cannot remove an existing Instagram label or promise an unlabeled upload.

How do I remove AI info from an Instagram Story?

Clean the still photo before creating a new Story. Download it, save it to Files or Photos on iPhone or Downloads or your gallery on Android, then select that copy in Instagram. Published Stories and video Stories are not changed.

Can I remove a label from an Instagram post that is already live?

No. This tool has no access to published posts or platform records. Reposting a cleaned image is a new upload, does not preserve the old post’s engagement, and does not guarantee a different label.

Why does my Instagram post say made with AI after a small edit?

An editor may record AI-assisted changes even when the original was a camera photo. Inspect the final export and read the label context. The metadata viewer cannot prove which signal Instagram used.

Can I clean all images in an Instagram carousel?

Yes. Select every original slide, clean the batch, and download individual results or a ZIP. Extract the ZIP before selecting the photos in Instagram. The limit is 30 images, 20 MB per image, and 150 MB per batch.

Does cleaning a Reel cover remove the video’s AI label?

No. It only cleans the separate cover image. Reel video metadata, audio, pixel watermarks such as SynthID, and labels on the Reel remain outside this tool.

Will cleaning change image quality?

Ordinary JPG, PNG, and WebP files keep their compressed image data, with color profiles preserved by default. Images requiring EXIF orientation correction are exported as PNG. AVIF also converts to PNG and its HDR or color appearance may change. Check the conversion notice and preview before posting.

Is this free, and are my photos uploaded?

The tool is free and runs locally in your browser, with no account required. Your images and metadata are not sent to our servers. Download the results before closing or refreshing the page.
